[Sibu] - My Favourite Breakfast Spot: Opps Kopitiam

Breakfast is the most important meal in a day. As they said, 'Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper', I am the one who will purposely wake up earlier just to have a nice breakfast as a kickstart of the day. Haha! Like a blackhole, I am hardly feel full in the morning.

Opps Kopitiam is furnished with wooden furniture. It is also always hidden from the morning sunlight, so you can enjoy your breakfast in cool breeze and fresh air. Sipping your black coffee and reading the fresh delivered newspapers or chit-chatting with your family will be the best moment in the day.

See! It looks so relaxing, doesn't it? So NEAT and TIDY!

Alright, now let's see what do they have!

There are another page with the list of beverage, dessert and morning set but I forgot to take the picture.

Admitting myself as a coffee lover, especially kopi o kosong (black coffee without sugar), I never ordered beverage other than coffee, so only can show you the pictures of coffee. Paiseh! They always serve the small one unless you request for large with only add on RM 0.30!

Coffee (Small) - RM 1.20 ; Coffee (Large) - RM 1.50
Being a fan of toast, I will never miss to chance to have at least one! Opps Kopitiam serves variety of toast but not like the western sandwich. They are more to local or I can say it's Malaysian style! Haha! This is the classic one - kaya and butter thin toast (they have the thick one). The bread is just toasted perfectly, crispy but still maintain a little softness of the bread. (ps: I can feel my stomach roaring now!)

Kaya and Butter Bread (Thin) - RM 1.20
 They also have 2 breakfast set: Set A - Kaya and butter thin bread + 2 soft boiled eggs + coffee/tea (RM 4.20) and Set B - Nasi lemak + 2 soft boiled eggs + coffee/tea (RM 5.00). Affordable,agree?

Breakfast Set A - RM 4.20
Arhh! Forgot to take the photo until there is only half left. They sprinkle sugar on top of peanut butter toast, + marks + marks!

Peanut Butter Toast - RM 1.50

Wishing to have some protein or meat? Ham and Cheese sandwich will never go wrong. Melting cheese with ham are so mouth-watering!

Ham and Cheese Sandwich - RM 6.90
Next, presenting to you our local Foochow snack which is always eaten as breakfast - Kompia! (光饼in Chinese) There are two ways Sibu people eat kompia, one is the plain one and the other is kompia stuffed with minced meat. You can also find some modified version of kompia in some of the cafes in Sibu, kompia with cheese for example.

For me, kompia from Opps Kopitiam ranked the highest in Sibu. Can't describe how good it is, you have to try! Hmmm, the kompia itself is the highlight! See how generous they are! Kompia is FULLY STUFFED with minced meat!

Kompia (3 pcs) - RM 2.40

I have also tried their braised meat mantou but feel like ma ma dei (so so).
Braised Meat Mantou - RM 4.90

They also serve some main dishes such as rice and noodles. Their chicken soup is added with red glutinous wine which brings out the fragrant. My mom always can't stop herself to order one! Haha! Couldn't find a better one in Sibu except homemade by Mom. =P

Chicken Soup Hungan - RM 5.50
Nasi lemak with rendang chicken is nice too! The egg is perfectly fried! The rice is quite rich in coconut milk (I had the richest one at Limapulo in KL).

Nasi Lemak with Rendang Chicken - RM 6.90
This is also a local Foochow dish called Zhao Chai Hungan. Zhai Chai is made by fermentating the vegetables with red glutinous rice wine and salt. This dish is quite sour but is very appetizing! Love it!

RM 4.00

They also have set lunch in the afternoon with one free drink. Something to add, the service is so good here and you can feel their sincerity in serving you the best quality of food! That's why I visited here so many times!

What's your favourite breakfast? Feel free to drop some comments and share your favourite place for breakfast! Cheers!
